I wanted a relatively easy day after my exertions on Snowdon the pevious day. So decided to walk directly from Beddgelert where I was staying and up the steep and at times rocky route via Mynydd Sygyn to Moel y Dyniewyd.

I had done part of the walk before and knew I would need to use my hands just a little on the intitial climb. Interesting this time as they were often covered in ice and frost!

The day had started bright and sunny, giving a lovely view back down to Beddgelert as I gained height.

Looking due North and Yr Aran was topped with cloud that was now moving in after such a bright and sunny start to the day.

Higher up now, and an even better view of Beddgelert, reckoned to be the prettiest village in Wales.

But before long I was at the top of Mynydd Dygyn and was heading almost due East "off track" passing at least one old mine working. One of many in the area.

I soon joined the main path that went from near the Aberglaslyn Pass up to Bwlchy Sygyn.

I was going to have to turn just South of East at Bwlchy Sygyn, but first enjoyed the view over Lyn Dinas and further North.

As I am finding is common in Snowdonia there was no path marked on the map, but aclear and well used track that headed over some steep rocks towards Moel y Dyniewyd.

Not a big summit! But quite popular as I found with other walkers passing by as I got close to the small summit cairn.

I headed back the way I had come to Bwlchy Sygyn, and then further West to pick up the track down to the old Sygun Copper Mine.

The track down came out right by the old Sygun Copper Mine: now a Museum. From there it was a gentle walk back alongside the fast flowing river to Beddgelert.
