26th June: Oberammergau - Grosser Aufacher - Kleiner Aufacher and return Start/Finish at Oberammergau, 837m Highest point reached was Grosser Aufacher summit, 1542m Round distance circa 10 kms Vertical altitude gain of circa 750m Total time from start to finish of 5hrs Weather was sunny and warm, hot later.
Overnight storms hadn't cleared the air as I stepped into a warm and humid morning for the 05.52 RVO bus to Oberammergau. That decided me to do a short morning hike so as to be back at the hotel before the heat of the day. So the plan was the straightforward forest track walk up to the Grosser and Kleiner Aufacher summits, to the North of Oberammergau. 26th June hike continued

The lower part of the route up was mostly in a very dark forest but as I gained height the density of the trees decreased letting the already warm sunshine onto the forest floor. 26th June hike continued

After a large number of zig zags I reached the simple summit cross. Plans for a late breakfast of crisps and energy bar were rapidly abandoned as I was being plagued by flies! So a quick stroll along a broad and grassy ridge to the unmarked Kleiner Aufacher summit, and a few moments to take a few photos was all the time I spent at the top. 26th June hike continued

To the South was the edge of the Laber, then the Ziegelspitz and Notkarspitze, and in the distance the Jübilaumsgrat. 26th June hike continued

And also good view of most of the Sonnenberggrat that I had walked in October 2005. 26th June hike continued

A last look at the Notkarpsitze to the South, and then down to the valley for a late morning bus back to Farchant and refuge from the very hot afternoon.
