25th June: Farchant - Philosophenweg - Farchant Start/Finish at Farchant 670m Highest point reached was circa 750m. Round distance circa 8kms Vertical altitude gain of circa 150m Total time from start to finish of 3 hrs 30 mins, (1 hr 30 mins at normal speed) Weather was sunny and warm, hot later.
Sunday 25th June promised to be a very hot day indeed, and was certainly needed as rest day by me! So after a pleasant hotel breakfast I wandered out to the East of Farchant and onto the Philosophenweg, a well laid low level path that links Farchant with Garmisch-Partenkirchen. 25th June hike continued

The view from the frequent bench seats was superb. Extreme right is the Notkarspitze, and then (Right to Left), the ridge that joins Brünstlkreuz, Brünstelskopf, Grosser Zunderkopf and Vord. Felderkopf. 25th June hike continued

The track ran though meadows and also through light woods. All of which looked lovely as the day got warmer, heading to a 32 degree maximum and a late afternoon thunderstorm. 25th June hike continued

But for now it was an almost cloudless sky with fast flowing mountain streams, lush grass meadows and distant mountain views. 25th June hike continued

And a superb view of the Zugspitze standing proud behind Garmisch-Partenkirchen. 25th June hike continued

Plus the wider view in the same direction of the Jübilaumsgrat linking Alpspitze and Zugspitze, adding to a rather pleasant stroll on a relaxing Rest day.
